Solar Converters model GS - 1 AC Universal Generator Starter:
This Generator / Genset starter monitors the battery voltage and when
the battery voltage gets to its low setpoint, the unit starts the generator.
When the battery gets to its high setpoint, the unit stops the generator.
The generator may be remotely started and stopped by dry contact
closures or by its local toggle switch start / stop commands.
The setpoints may be temperature compensated with an optional remote
temperature sensor which we stock.
These are designed for starting AC generators which power a battery charger.
Many remote alternative energy powered telecommunications site use the
GS - 1AC.
The unit monitors the battery voltage and when the solar and / or wind
input falls short of maintaining the battery state of charge the GS-1AC
starts the generator and runs it until the battery bank comes up to
full charge and then shuts down the generator.
They are made in an open frame type which can be mounted in your
equipment or in an electrical enclosure as well as one that includes a
NEMA 3R weathertite enclosure.
Features:
> Single unit handles from 12 volt to 48 volt d.c. battery systems
> LED's indicate relay positions and generator status
> Temperature compensation (- 4 mv / deg. C. / cell ) on start and stop
voltages with the optional temperature sensor # TC - 2
> Remote start and stop controls as well as local start / stop control
> 20 second delay between on and start
> 5 second re-triggerable time delay on voltage sensing to prevent
false starts and stops
> Supports 2, 3 and 4 wire systems as well as advanced control systems
Electrical Specifications:
> Base Model: GS - 1
> Nominal battery voltages: 12 - 48 volt d.c.
> Maximum Input voltage: 63 volts d.c.
> Minimum Voltage: 10
> Relay: 8 amps @ 12/24 V,
2 amps @ 48 V and
5 amps @ 120 VAC rating of Potter & Brumfield T72 series relay
> Self Consumption (A):
Relay Power: 0.5 W per relay coil when powered, voltage independent
Quiescent less than 20 mA, Fusing 1A - internal electronics only
User Controls:
> Generator Stop Voltage
> Generator Start Voltage
> Manual start / stop switch overides remote smart stop control
> Remote start / stop
> Potentiometers and test points read 1/10 the voltage you wish to
start / stop the generator.
As example, if the generator is required to start at 23 volts, set the
potentionmeter for 2.3 volts.
LED Display:
> Generator start / stop
> Relay position for precrank, crank, load, run, stop and fault.
Dimensions:
GS - 1 (open frame): 5" by 5" by 1"
GS - 2 (NEMA 3R box): 10" by 8" by 4"
Operating Temperature: - 40 to + 60 deg. C.
We stock the GS - 1AC (open frame for generators with
an a.c. output to a battery charger)
