26 What we sell and why.

We specialize in stocking items that few if any companies handle.
Many of the items we stock are difficult to find, even on the internet.

What we handle is determined by a number of things.

Knowledge:

We only handle items that we are familiar with.
This is why you don't see wind or hydro generators on our site.
What I know about them would not wet the bottom of a thimble.

We have used many of the products we sell.

D.C. lighting is one of our specialties, we have been using low
voltage d.c. lights for over 30 years.
I am no spring chicken.

The manufacturers:

We don't sell junk.
The noble reason is that we do not want our customers to be let
down by the items they buy from us - if they want junk there are
plenty of outfits that sell it.
The less than noble reason is that if we don't sell these types of
items we won't have to deal with problems later.

When you call the manufacturers for most of the items we handle
they will refer you to us.
They know we stock their products on our shelves and can answer
questions about their goods.

Technical and applications support:

All of our manufacturers are more than happy to speak with you,
the end user.

Bogart Engineering (TriMetric) is is Boulder Creek, California.
Flexcharge is in Charlevoix, Michigan.
IOTA Engineering is in Tucson, Arizona.
Solar Converters is in Guelph, Ontario Canada.
Thin-Lite is in Camarillo, California.

Sometimes you need to get the information right from the horse's mouth.

The market:

Many of the items we stock can be found nowhere else.

Over the years we have stopped carrying many items because
either the market for them has dried up or I have seen them offered
on the web at unbelieveably low prices.
Some businesses do this by not having the item in stock and being willing
to sandbag the customer with high shipping and drop-ship fees.
By stocking what we sell we are able to ship the same or next business day.

As an example, at our old location we used five Morningstar ProStar
charge controllers and two TriStar controllers.
We do not offer either line for sale.
I have sold over three-hundred of the ProStar 12's, 15's, 20's
and 30's until we stopped carrying them a couple of years ago.

Several months before the Morningstar Tri-Star controllers came
out, Morningstar purchased air-heating and water-heating diversion
loads from us. These were used for testing to submit for their
UL listings.
When the Tri-Star's started shipping from the factory I checked our
costs and the street prices - there was no point in having them on the shelf.

Practicality:

You will not see large heavy items offered on our website.
We will leave that to companies having big shipping departments
and with personnel having less joint pains than we do.

Thats the deal,

John
